Hello, im 26 of age and im too having these hotflashes.

I eaither get them all day or they will be hit and miss during the week. I just had a baby 6mo ago and thought that it was my hormones still going crazy. I will awake in the middle of the night with night sweat so much that it feels as if i wet my bed.

I have been in and out of the doctors for more test then anything, and they can not put there finger on it.

It is scary, at time when i have these so called attacks i get shaky and very light headed then i start to sweat from my back of my neck, under and between my breast, back of my legs and so much under my arms that it get so embarresing, (im not over weight, current weight is 136, 5′6 ft tall)

Then i get hyper, I just wish i knew what is going on, many people are telling me that these sytomps are menapause, but im way to young. Arent I?

What could be the answer?

Hi! Your description of your hot flashes doesn’t sound exactly like the type that is usually associated with menopause, but it’s hard to tell for sure. Usually the hot flashes with menopause will be focused more on the face and chest. It’s typical for them to start on the face or chest and then spread. There can a feeling of warmth all over the body also.

It’s not impossible for someone to undergo early menopause before age 30, but it’s very, very unusual.

I think you would be smart to get tested for things that are not menopause, such as thyroid problems, diabetes, hypoglycemia, etc. There are many different kinds of chemical and hormonal imbalances that can caause similar symptoms, and a professional disgnosis is necessary to understand what is really going on.

It sounds more like an anxiety attack then menopause. You may want to mention that to your doctors. I had them after a dramatic life change, and it felt exactly like what you are describing.

Wow. I’m 22 and your artcile got me thinking. i often awake during the nite drenched in sweat, And seem to sweat in the same places as you. I sure hope its not menopause. Well good luck, talk to your doctor soon.

Thinking about a hormonal change is normal after childbirth. It may take some time to feel a little more “back to normal,” but keep in mind having a baby is a lifechanging event in more ways than one.

Due to your age, I would urge you to explore other causes of this. Menopause is not the only explanation. Are these sensations coupled with any feeling? Could you be experiencing anxiety?
Many people who have anxiety attacks experience spontaneous sweating (not all, but many). I am sure they have checked your thyroid – but the other thing that can occur with pregnancy is blood sugar issues.

In addition to testing, I would keep a diary of what you are eating. You could have a vitamin or mineral deficiency that may not be the cause but could exaserbate the problem.

OP, are you nursing your new baby? The hormone progesterone is associated with lactation and lactational amennorhea (i.e., not getting your period while breastfeeding). I’d discuss it with your midwife or OB when you go in for your checkup!

So what about the heart racing, isn’t that also associated with menopause? I would appreciate any information you have about this. I heard about one woman who thought she was having a heart attack, then went to emergency only to find out it was indeed a hot flash. Your site is great, and I enjoy visiting here to compare flashes!

My wife is mid 40s and has found that the OTC Soy Menopause tablets have really helped control hot flashes.

I am a little younger than you and I too have been having these hot flashes. After numerous tests the doctor found that they were being caused by an internal infection from my c-section about 4 months ago. I am certain they have checked your white blood cells, etc., however this may be your case as well. I do hope that you find an answer soon!

Hmm, I had no idea women had to go through this type of thing, on top of other things like the morning sickness and actual child birth. It gives me much more respect for you.

Have they checked your thyroid? You might ask them to check that and also, what about your blood pressure?

It does sound like your symptoms may have something to do with your thyroid. The sudden drop or rise of energy could also have something to do with the sugar in your blood.I would consult your doctor and make sure that he does a full blood work up. Better safe than sorry.

Hi I’m 24 years old and I have been having hot flashes too. I think maybe it’s due to stress and you have so much on your mind that it works you up causing you to have hot flashes, that’s what I think about myself as well.

I never experience hot flashes, per se, but when I was 27 I stopped having my period. I wasn’t pregnant, and I wasn’t perimenopausal. After a great number of tests that were not a whole lot of fun, and consultations with specialists I was diagnosed with Amenorrhea. It’s often associated with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). The bottome line is that I now take birth control pills to help control hormone levels, and I’ve learned that I need to eat better (less processed foods) and get my stress under control. If your doctor hasn’t mentioned PCOS, do some research and ask questions. I’ve discovered that the symptoms can vary from person to person. Good luck!

I have experienced hot flashes for the past two years, used OTC everything nothing helps. i resenntly underwent a hysterectomy, I too had polycystic ovarian syndrome. Anyway afterwards I was put on a hormone patch, this still has not control my hot flashes. Please if there is any where I can go or use, I am open to suggestion.

To bjt, about your hot flashes. Unfortunately, sometimes no treatment takes them away completely. I was having horrible hot flashes day and night. I started taking hormones, and they helped, but I never was 100% flash free. I would still get a flash or two at night. They are generally worse at night. I would also suggest you make sure you avoid caffeine and alcohol, as both of those seem to make the problem worse.

    Hi,
I am 58 yrs old. had a hysterectomy at 30 but dr. left the ovaries. Had another hysterectomy at 50 yrs old. I took homones after both. I quit hormones about 1 year ago. The hot flashes are unreal. At my age! I am also a heart patient. Stress brings mine on and I often wonder if my heart is causing the flashes b/c before I got of the hormones I was already starting to get them. You may want to check with your dr. about doing some heart tests.
    Good luck
